They come in a wide variety of styles and materials. Many of them produced from wood are constructed from cedar. Cedar varies in quality, but is generally more durable than other types of woods. Another common material used for them is metal. These are probably the most common. Metal swing sets can be produced with a variety of features and in several sizes.
Swing sets will need to have some type of protective coating, whether metal or wood. Metal commercial swing sets will either be painted or galvanized to prevent rust from developing. Wood commercial swing sets are often pressure treated or painted. While there are some plastic commercial swing sets available these are less durable and therefore less popular.
They often come with all the pieces pre drilled and with all the necessary hardware and accessories included. They are most commonly installed in parks and school playgrounds, although some people enjoy having them in their backyards.
All of them are designed for child safety, incorporating many features to keep children safe while they are having fun. To ensure safe play children should always be shown basic safety rules, such as never running in front of an operating swing or twisting the chains of a swing. Children should also wear well fitting shoes and clothes that can protect them from overheated slides on a warm day. Commercial swing sets should always be installed on level ground over a loose fill surface such as mulch or shredded rubber.
